For the ultimate in Extreme Home Theatre, certified to THX ULTRA2 and THX SELECT2 standards, the formidable new Ci R Series Ci3160RLb-THX in-wall subwoofer has the deep bass and theatre thumping output capabilities of a traditional KEF subwoofer coupled with the ability to deliver all the drama and emotional intensity of full theatre sound quality.

With three high-output 160mm sub-bass drivers mounted to a massive aluminium baffle the Ci3160RLb-THX must be matched with KEF’s powerful KASA500 system amplifier. Each KASA500 can power up to two of the Ci3160RLb-THX subwoofers for even the most demanding theatre installations.

THX ULTRA 2

For theatre building flexibility, the remainder of KEF’s Extreme Theatre suite consists of two THX Ultra2 certified in-wall LCR speakers, a THX Ultra2 certified in-ceiling LCR speaker, as well as a smaller in-wall subwoofer and smaller in-wall LCR. 

THX Audio Certification Categories

THX has multiple certification categories based on the room size in which the equipment will be installed. This ensures a THX home theatre system will play loud & clear without audible distortion at THX reference levels in specific room sizes and at specific viewing distances from the screen. This also certifies that the subwoofers will properly pressurize the theatre so that even the most demanding of movie sound effects are heard and felt with visceral clarity. Of all the THX certification standards Ultra2 is the most demanding as Ultra2 systems are designed for a room larger than 85 cubic meters (3000 cubic feet) with viewing distances from the screen greater than 4 meters (12 Feet).
